Greetings beautiful soul and welcome back! ⭐
In the last post, I asked y’all what you wanted to learn about, and one of you voted for this post idea - how to create meaningful work that you love! So thank you to the person who voted for this 🙂
This post is for you if:
You yearn for more meaning, fulfillment, and purpose in your work
You are wishing for more freedom and flexibility through work
You’ve tried to bring more meaning to your current work situation, without much success
You’re tired of feeling overworked, unappreciated, stuck, and unsatisfied
You’re willing to learn the skills to create work that you love
While this post is geared towards people who want to start side hustles and businesses, theoretically you could take any of these tenets and apply it to your current work situation. As with anything I write or speak about, take what resonates and leave the rest 🙂
Let’s get started!
Why Is It Important to Create Meaningful Work That You Love?
We are in a pivotal moment of human history - a Great Awakening, if you will. The old ways are no longer serving. In the old paradigm of work, we dutifully selected careers based on a number of factors: the skills of the job, self-interest, hours, salary, schooling, approval of our parents or culture, availability, etc.
We make money to then pay the bills, to then live the life we want, so that we can feel xyz (free, fulfilled, successful, safe, comfortable, attractive, etc.) Essentially, we put the money first.
This style doesn’t factor in the importance of meaning, purpose, and alignment with your soul. And it doesn’t guarantee internal satisfaction.
If you’re not internally satisfied, it’s gonna be hard to keep going - and it’s a fast track to burnout.
In the new paradigm of work, we put our feelings first - our soul first, and then we create from there. We create the feelings we want, and that leads us to the next steps, to then carry out the actions, and then the money follows. Money is the last step in the new paradigm.
I repeat: Money is the last step!!!
If you learn this skill, you will feel: confident, magnetic, abundant, successful, loved, fulfilled, free, flexible, and creative, without even needing to “do” much yet.
If you don’t learn this skill: you’ll be stuck in a job that underutilizes your abundant skills & talents, leaving you to feel unworthy, unappreciated, exhausted, and bitter.
What Is Creating Meaningful Work?
Creating meaningful work is using your own natural gifts & talents to serve others meaningfully, for the greatest and highest good.
As you get to know yourself on a deep and authentic level, you start creating from that place - your soul - a powerful, vibrant, and abundant force.
Your soul carries all the answers to what type of work is best for you. Your soul has the codes that unlock your life.
Anything that aligns with the soul will inherently carry meaning, purpose, and joy within it.
How to Create Meaningful Work:
I’m gonna walk you through the step-by-step proven process that enabled me to create a career that I love that pays me.
Step 1: Make Joy a Priority Every day
Why? Why Joy? Joy makes life worth living. Joy is our true nature. We are born joyful creatures, but we get the joy knocked out of us as we become adults, in place of “duty” and “obligation”. Joy is the highest vibration, and joy attracts creative solutions.
Joy connects us to our soul’s truest intentions, which will always come from Love and be for the greatest and highest good. This means no one is harmed in the process, everyone involved benefits. We need this for planetary reasons.
Joy also connects you to fun and fulfillment, a huge bonus when it comes to work.
Lastly, joy connects us to rest (something that seemingly wasn’t factored into these old paradigm jobs), as well as self-discovery. Joy is an ever-unfolding path of self-discovery where you learn new things, expand, and grow beyond what you could have imagined.
Joy just feels really good!!!
What is Joy? Joy is a feeling of pure delight, bliss, excitement, and love. It’s a feeling of pure deliciousness and there is nothing else like it!
How are Joy & Meaning Connected?
Joy and purpose are inherently connected. Whenever you feel joy, you are in your purpose. Anything that is purposeful to you is going to be meaningful as well.
How to Connect to Joy:
Make joy lists every day: pay attention to the moments throughout the day where your belly or your heart light up and write them down. They will lead you to your unique soul purpose (dharma).
Do stuff on your joy list!!! Try to do something joyful every day, even if you have no idea how this connects to service or money.
Start this now - you do not have to have anything else figured out to do these first steps.
Try not to worry yet about how this brings you money- you’re not gonna know anyways, and it’s not the right time to think about it. Feelings first!!!
An example of a joy list:
Meditation
Reading spiritual, higher consciousness books
Giving pep talks to your friends or coworkers
Feeling the sun on your skin
A walk in nature
Step 2: Listen to Your Intuition
What is Intuition? Intuition is the connection to your soul’s highest truth. It carries all the right steps and directions for you to move in.
Why Listen to Intuition? Your intuition can fathom what’s possible even more than our silly little human minds can. In the new spiritual paradigm, intuition trumps all. It is the guiding light to your greatest potential. It can take you to higher grounds than you could ever imagine.
How Does Intuition Work? Intuition reveals itself one step at a time. In the old paradigm, we knew how much schooling we would need, to get the job we wanted, to make the big girl salary. We might know what we are going to make as a salary 10 years in advance!
In the new paradigm, we have no idea, and we let intuition guide us. We’re open to creative solutions. Piece by piece, we put the puzzle together, leading us to a bigger picture. All of this is in divine timing.
What If I Listen to My Intuition? You will always be in alignment with your soul’s highest truth. You’ll also always be right in step with your divine timing. You’ll feel really connected to your authenticity, and your self-trust will increase.
You have to be able to trust yourself, because the ideas you get might be so out there that other people won’t get it initially. You’ll want their validation, but it’s your own self-trust that matters the most!!
You might even invent new things or combinations of things that have never been done before. That’s the power of intuition.
How to Connect to and Follow Your Intuition
I’ve written a blog post on how to connect to intuition and I also have a full course on this that goes into way more detail 🙂 If you need help with this, and want to get really good at this - take the course!
Step 3: Heal Old Stuff Holding You Back
As we grow and change into new vibrations, inevitably the deeper, darker, shadowy stuff starts coming up. You might start realizing you have limiting beliefs holding you back. Those may have served you in the past, but they won’t be able to take you further now.
If you address your limiting beliefs, you get to feel better about yourself, intuit better ideas, and attract better opportunities to you. You get to change your vibration to a higher level, naturally.
If you want to learn how to release limiting beliefs, I have written a free e-book for you!
Other things that might come up are a wounded inner child, various protector parts holding you back, and various unloved parts that need your love before you proceed. Healing is absolutely essential for the new paradigm.
What got you here, won’t get you there.
If you heal yourself, you get to believe in yourself, trust yourself more, love yourself, and increase your self-worth. All these will help you greatly in creating meaningful work.
Step 4: Experiment!
You might need to play around with the things you like before you turn them into paid work. This means practicing what you think you want to do.
For example, before I knew what my purpose was, I thought, maybe I’ll try doing astrology readings for people. That way I could talk about spirituality and help people learn about themselves. I did one reading for my brother, and I hated it!!! I like astrology, but not being an astrologer. You know?
In contrast, before I started this blog, I was offered an opportunity at my old job to write a 4-week newsletter of encouragement to the residents (pharmacists-in-training) at the time. I wrote a 4-part series on Ayurveda and I absolutely loved it! It was then that I realized I liked writing about spirituality. And that’s how this blog was born!
If you don’t play around and experiment, you might jump into something that you hate. That wouldn’t be good. Or, you’ll waste your money on certifications that you don’t use.
If you do play around and find that you genuinely enjoy what you are doing, it will sustain you and bring you to the next steps. You’ll want to keep coming back to it. And thus, you’ll have a much greater chance at being successful at what you do.
The good news is, even if you take a misstep, your intuition will guide you back to your true path. So play around and experiment!
Step 5: Take Intuitive Action
Taking intuitive action means listening to what your intuition is telling you and acting based on that feeling. Even if you don’t know where it will lead you.
Like I said before, once I realized I loved writing about spirituality, intuitively I knew it was time to start blogging.
Here are some other examples of taking intuitive action:
6 months after I quit work: I felt space in my heart to start dog sitting. I initially watched a neighbor’s dog at their house, and it was a disaster. But I still wanted to try again, at my house. A few months later, my friends Meredith & Jared asked me to watch their precious Bailey. And it was a huge success!! So aligned and so much fun! After that I decided to start my business and put it on the Rover dog sitting app. It’s going super well!!!
11 months after I quit work: I got an intuitive hit to become a spiritual life coach. I looked up one program, interviewed with them, and got in. I am now fully certified as a Master’s Level Spiritual Life Coach (Joy and Embodiment Coach).
1 year and 3 months after I quit work: I found the book, The Emotion Code, and learned the energy healing technique. A month later, I signed up to get certified so that I could learn more and charge for my services.
1.5 years after I quit work: I got the intuitive hit to start offering tarot readings for pay. And people seem to love them!
2 years after I quit work: I got the intuitive hit to become a wedding officiant in the state of Tennessee. I just performed my first wedding ceremony yesterday 🙂
2 months ago: I got the intuitive hit to level up in energy healing and get certified in The Body Code™. I am completing this certification now. I am totally fascinated and enchanted by this energy healing technique!!
As you can see, it took time to discover what exactly I’d do after quitting healthcare. In the midst of things, I didn’t know how this was gonna look. I was taking it one step at a time, tapping into joy every day, practicing my new skills, learning, and growing. And then eventually they all built into income streams.
That’s the new paradigm of work.
Step 6: Learn About Yourself and Grow
There are lots of lessons along the way that will be unique to you.
Why would you want to learn about yourself and grow? Because you’ll tap into new potentials you never knew existed. You’ll learn more about yourself and your gifts! You’ll deepen your relationship with yourself :)
If you learn and grow, you’ll do new things and feel really proud of yourself! You’ll expand into new territories at exactly the right divine timing. You’ll attract new opportunities that feel really good!
What is an example of learning about yourself? I had no idea how much of a dog lover I was! I had no idea I was gifted with energy healing. I had no idea my coaching would heal other people. Same for my tarot readings, same for my writing. I had no idea!!! I would never have known had I not tried new things out.
What is an example of growing? For me, charging for my natural gifts felt so counterintuitive. Why would I charge this much when this is the easiest thing in the world for me? Well, I’ve learned what’s easy for me doesn’t come so easy for others. What you have, someone else needs. And it turns out that healers can’t survive on just air!! Lol. If I charge the right amount, I get to rest and give again from a full cup :) I get to give from my highest vibration. And that is for the greatest and highest good!
I’m not some special person who “figured something out”. I’m not “specially gifted”, more so than anyone else. I’m a regular ass person who stayed true to myself and took things one step at a time. And I’m still learning!!
I want you to know that creating meaningful work is available to you too, should you choose it!! Be brave enough to choose it!!!
You don’t have to have it all figured out at once or in advance. The plan will be revealed to you, one step at a time.
Mistakes to Avoid
Don’t put the money first. It will suck the fun out of everything. Put joy first, heal, take intuitive action, learn new things, practice, and grow, and the money will follow :)
Be patient!!!
Wrap-Up
I hope this post helps you see that you too can create a career of meaning and joy that you love! It is absolutely essential in this new spiritual paradigm!
The world is a much better place and comes into much better balance when you are honest about what it is that you want, how you want to give, and use your gifts to serve for the greatest and highest good. You will feel better, too.
