I’ve been MIA. I released my book in the middle of May, finished an energy healing certification, attended a wedding, and then got sick! So I’m starting today’s post with a little catch up session with you.
Because of the above, I missed sending the Spiritual Book Recommendations newsletter out for May 2025. My apologies. Okay! Thanks for following along so far! Onto our post! The gifts and curses of being a visionary. I’ve been looking for information on this for ages. And I still can’t find anything that will quench my thirst for this.
Somebody’s gotta write a post on this. So I guess it’ll be me (that’s very visionary of me).
Why Am I Writing About This?
I started to realize I was a visionary when I was looking for my life’s purpose. If you have read the book, Discover Your Dharma, Sahara Rose reveals the dharma archetypes according to your Dosha. It’s actually such an interesting thing to learn about.
Based on your energy makeup, you are destined to carry out your dharma (unique soul purpose) in specific ways. Depending on who you are, one of those ways is as a visionary.
I’ve had some painful and healing moments of living through being a visionary, so this is why I’m writing this post.
What is a Visionary?
A visionary is a person that is here to usher in a new spiritual paradigm. They are a mystic, someone who is One with Source consciousness, and thus are able to express themselves and their visions through the gift of words.
Because they are embodied in their authentic, spiritual selves, their mission is to impart this type of wisdom and way of being to others. They are here to remind you that the wisdom you seek is already within you (not externally).
According to Sahara Rose, “A Visionary’s art is their speech.” When they speak, they are channeling from Source energy, with great passion. They receive divine downloads containing important information. This is why they easily come up with books, courses, speeches, and other offerings to transmit their wisdom.
They see the bigger picture. They want to help humanity, and they see how the roles we play altogether add up to something larger. Visionaries are natural born leaders, and are happiest when focused on increasing the planet’s vibration. They are very intuitive and as such, they tend to think outside the box.
What are the Curses of Being a Visionary?
Having lived through this already, I can tell you sometimes being a visionary has it’s perceived curses. One of them is being “ahead of the curve” in terms of your wisdom and knowledge. When you are an intuitive person, you tend to think and act outside of the box. But because you are a leader, you tend to be the first person in your tribe to realize new spiritual information and embody that. That can be kind of lonely, because others haven’t shifted their consciousness yet to match yours.
I can’t tell you how many times within family I listened to my gut, but others were up in arms because what I chose wasn’t traditional or family-serving — even though the outcome was absolutely right.
For example, I missed the birth of my niece (on purpose). Something told me not to go then, and to wait 3 months to meet her. And that makes no sense to most people’s families. But on the inside, I felt really called to wait, and when I did come to meet my niece 3 months later, it was aligned and perfect. She is aligned and perfect. We have a great relationship btw.
Things like that can seem so strange to others, but feel absolutely right to you.
Another “curse” is when you realize that other people haven’t caught up to what’s real. For example, when you change careers, you have to have a shift in consciousness. A lot of people will tell you they can’t change careers because of money, but really they can’t change careers because of their mindset. I talk about this in my book: It Can Be Done: Learn to Create Meaningful Work You Love. Creative solutions are available, and a Visionary would know this.
And then lastly, you have to wait for people to catch up a lot of the time. And sometimes that wait can be really painful. For example, when I told my parents I had quit my job, it really rocked our relationship. They couldn’t understand why I’d do such a thing! For a long time, they kept telling me to go back to work. Even though I was too drained to work!
But eventually, they realized that good things take time, their child is happy and healthy, and everything is fine! We are in a much better place now, but that initial rocking and then healing phase was hard.
What Are the Gifts of Being a Visionary?
People come to you for advice and guidance. Even for things you are not necessarily experiencing yourself. For example, people love to share their relationship problems with me. I’ve been single for 8 years! Why do people come to me for this? Lol.
Well, I am told (by one of my married friends) that because I am embodied, joyful, and unwilling to settle for bad relationships, I am actually a better source than most unhappily married people (lol). Go figure. Something I would not have realized had I not asked.
Being a visionary means you get to be a leader. Your activism is through your intuition. So rather than worry about like smaller bits like climate change and politics (and staying in problem consciousness), you realize that the only solution is to raise the vibration of the planet. You can see what other people don’t see. Others may get stuck on details of the smaller picture, whereas you can see everything is energy and energy needs to shift within each and every one of us in order for change to happen. We’re all responsible, even if we don’t think we are directly responsible.
You’re really really wise, often beyond your years. Yes, your life experience makes you much wiser, especially if you’ve healed and learned the lessons. But overall, you are accessing universal wisdom constantly, so you get to help guide others through this vessel.
And even though being a visionary can be lonely, isolating, and make you seem like an outcast at times…
Eventually, people do catch on and start to see things more clearly. They value what you have to say or what you do, even if it took some time for them to understand and appreciate it. The key is to understand and appreciate yourself first, and trust that whatever you are doing and feeling is right for you. Even if it is outside the box.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel, until the next time your consciousness leaps, leaving people to scratch their heads, only for them to catch up again later and say, “hey I like that and appreciate that.” Hehehe.
The trick is to understand that yes, you are different, and yes, the world needs you here.

TLDR:
The curses of being a visionary are: loneliness, isolation, feeling like an outcast, feeling misunderstood
The gifts of being a visionary are: wisdom, intuition, leadership, embodiment, inspiration, and guidance
The key is to feel your way through the hard part of not feeling understood to get to the good part of feeling understood! Over and over again :)
