How to Choose What to Offer in Your Business

Using intuitive, spiritual principles

Greetings beautiful souls and welcome back! ⭐

This post is inspired by a recent conversation I had with a beloved reader. We were talking about the confusion behind what to offer and what is the best use of our talents and abilities to best support our audience and clients.

This post is for you if:

  • You feel frustrated and unclear on what to offer in your business

  • You’re tired of feeling confused about what people want in connection to what you can offer

  • You’ve tried to ask your audience about this, but have not received many answers

  • You’re ready to feel clear, inspired, and relaxed about what you offer

  • You’re willing to learn something new so that you can serve for the highest good

Why Should You Learn About What to Offer in Your Business?

If you get this right, you get to serve using your natural gifts, in a way that lights you up, for the greatest and highest good. This means help for all and harm for none.

If you learn how exactly to figure out what to offer, you get to feel relaxed and clear that what you’re offering does make a big difference, and feel really good while you are serving. You get to see others receive your gift and feel extremely appreciative.

If you don’t learn this, you’ll stay stuck and frustrated, you won’t make money, you’ll feel bad about yourself, and people will miss out on your gifts.

What Is Choosing Your Offerings for Your Business?

Choosing your offerings means taking a look at your natural gifts, and deciding which will be used for your business, in exchange for money. It means choosing how you will serve others. And it means making a meaningful difference and contribution to the world.

If you get this right, you get to do meaningful work that you love. Not everything that you are good at needs to be on offer. So choosing right means choosing wisely, and choosing the things that get you 80% of the results, with 20% of the effort on your part.

How to Choose Your Offerings

In this previous post on how to create meaningful work you love and I wrote a lot about joy. (*Announcement* - I am writing a book called It Can Be Done: Learn to Create Meaningful Work You Love!!).

Joy connects you to purpose, creativity, intuition, freedom, expression, fulfillment, and really all of the good things.

I’m gonna walk you through step-by-step on how to choose your offerings. And I will give you some examples from my own life where this worked out.

Keep in mind, all of us are different. Some of us (manifesting generators, if you know much about Human Design) are meant to be multi-passionate, multi-talented humans. So in my case, I have a lot of smaller examples that add up to something bigger. Your business might not be like this. You might want to stick with one thing and do that well. It all depends.

Alright, the steps:

  1. Make joy a priority - I can’t say this enough. If you are living beneath the vibration of joy, it’s going to be hard to move out of problem consciousness into solution consciousness. I firmly believe for every “problem” there is a solution. But you can’t stay in negativity and worry expect to get to the solution. So make joy a priority!

Here’s what happens when you make joy a priority. If you are feeling confused, and you get into joy, you become a clear channel for the universe to answer your question. If you worry, you’ll block yourself from receiving inspiration.

Even if you think you know some of your gifts, joy will help you discover newer ones and newer expressions of those same gifts! That is the beauty and surprising effect of joy :)

  1. Learn to Tolerate the Confusion - I know right? I just told you to get into joy first. Even the most accomplished people have to live through periods of confusion. And I’ll give you examples of this later on. In this post, we talked about how intuition only comes to you one step at a time. So in between, it’s normal to not know everything.

And it’s completely normal to feel confused sometimes. We live in a world of duality and contrast. When you go through periods of confusion, it’s actually a catalyst for clarity to follow. You have to be able to live in the confusing spaces, otherwise you’ll create more stress for yourself. Breathe, meditate, do yoga, walk in nature, be peaceful about it. It will help.

  1. Listen to Your Intuition: We all receive intuitive impulses in different ways. Some of us feel it in our bellies, some of us feel it in our hearts. Some of us just “know” things. Some of us visually see things. Some of us need 28 days to journal and sleep on it. Some of us need a few days to mull and sleep on it. Look up your human design chart here (check the “authority”), and read this page about your intuition.

  1. Wait for Clarity, then Take Next Steps: For many of us, it’s a matter of moments (or more) when you’ll receive your clarity and inspiration. When you do, it’s time to act.

Here are some examples.

Remember when I talked about joy lists? On my joy list, I would wrote “reading spiritual, higher consciousness books.” How in the world is that a money-maker? And remember I also said, “don’t put the money first”?

There was a period of time where I wanted to offer something to the paid subscribers on Substack, something that they could have in exchange for supporting the blog. I have 3 paid subscribers btw, and I personally know all of them 😂 Anywho, during this period of time weeks, literally, I felt SO confused. Like what do I offer??!??!

Then, inspiration hit. (Inspiration comes through my belly). I read about 4-6 spiritual growth books per month. Why not compile them into a monthly email so that I can give book recommendations to people, and they can watch me grow in real time? It’s a small lift for me, it also keeps track of the books I’ve read, and people actually take my recommendations! It’s mutually beneficial, and something I’m really proud of!

And guess what? It covers my reading habit, since 98% of my books come from the library. I’m literally getting paid to read, and it fuels the rest of this blog! Do you see how not worrying about the money led to the money?

Here’s another one. I remember buying my first tarot deck with my spiritual bestie, Kay, years ago. I never thought I would offer tarot readings for pay. I was just drawn to the deck and curious to learn more. Over the years, I practiced and played. I put the deck down. I played again.

I read for my brother and my friends. I took a class on it. And one day, many months later, something clicked. I was going through a boy situation and was confused about what to do. So I took out my deck, and suddenly was understanding how to interpret the deck in response to my questions.

Boom - my tarot reading service was up! And people really seem to enjoy it! Again, the first step wasn’t, how do I make money? The first was, let’s play and experiment and then see what happens. I could have never predicted I’d happily pull cards for other people!

Same with dog sitting. Rocco was already trained up and for a solid year we were just GOOD. Life was super chill. Then, a space in my heart opened up for dog sitting. I dog sit out of pure joy and love for dogs. But the downstream effect is that the people who choose us come back from their trips feeling relieved and worry-free, knowing their dog is in good hands. They love my pictures, and they love my updates. They love me and Rocco. They’re literally the happiest clients I could ask for!

And the same for wedding officiation. I was inspired to do this because Marianne Williamson does this. So I put my business on TheKnot.com and I’m actually getting booked! It’s amazing - people are looking to get married by spiritually awakened, non-religious, non-traditional wedding officiants 🙂 So much fun!

Not everything is so beautiful and neat and pretty. It may take time for people to find your business services and use you. That’s been my case with coaching and energy healing. Interestingly and paradoxically, they are my strongest gifts, but perhaps the ones I’ve believed in the least (lol). So I’m working on it.

But truly, all of these services came from the inside of me, because likely other people were wishing for them.

You Can Also Ask People What They Want

If you ask, they might answer you! If you ask and people are quiet, it’s likely because they’re digesting what you’ve been saying. They may not know what to ask just yet, either. You’re the creator right? Creating and synthesizing is a different skill from consuming. You’re also the expert. So be patient if you did ask people what they want and they didn’t get back to you, or they don’t know yet.

Being asked and invited by other people is nice, but if what they’re asking for is outside of your wheelhouse, then it’s not going to be enjoyable and sustainable and that is the name of the game we are playing.

That’s why getting into joy first matters the most, because it will help you get clear on your core values and boundaries, and you’ll be likely to self-sacrifice and settle on work you don’t actually want to do.

Equally, if you’re already in joy and someone asks you to do something, like write a blog post or sit with them and coach, then you’ll be more than happy to give it, because it’s in alignment for both parties. They get to receive from you, and it's a mutual giving and receiving that’s happening. That’s the most rewarding thing in the world, sharing your true gifts with others, seeing their inspiration - and bonus if you’re being paid for it 🙂

Mistakes to Avoid

Don’t get too caught up on how this is all gonna look. Having a business is a living, breathing thing that grows and changes with you. For some, it looks like one main thing. For others, it may look like multiple services that all light you up. What you start with is certainly not what you’ll end with.

Don’t get too pressed on the money at first. If you’re giving from a space of love, joy, and total alignment, the chances are that there are people out there who need what you have to offer and are waiting to find you. Sometimes we have to clear the blocks to receiving those clients. If you need more help with this, set up a coaching call here.

Also, don’t worry about the how. It generally should come from within you, but then again there may be times where others are asking something of you that does align with what you can give. That’s the sweet spot, but be open to all the kinds of ways that you’ll receive this information.

In Summary

Choosing what to offer in your business is a living, breathing, changeable phenomenon. There are going to be times of confusion followed by times of clarity. As you get into joy, learn to tolerate the confusion & pain, and listen for intuitive impulses, you’ll then get to receive clarity and know how to act.

You may not even know how it’s going to turn out until you take those first steps. Some things might be bustling with business at first and others a little slower. Trust yourself and your process, because all the info you need is inside of you. You’ve got this!

And if you’d like to work closer with me to gain more clarity, book a call here.

I love you and thank you for reading and listening along!

Lots of love,
