Do you ever have a question that ends up getting answered by the universe later on?

I remember this used to happen to me when I worked in pharmacy. I’d have some clinical question, that would be answered later on in a presentation or a newly released article.

In the meantime though, the inner critic in me would be like, why haven’t you looked this up yet? But then later I’d receive answer anyways.

Today we are going to talk about those questions and those answers.

Life is really mysterious, and our human brains are wired to not possibly know everything at all times.

In our tech-heavy, “instant-gratification” world, it’s easy to believe that all the answers are already ready for us now. But sometimes we are asking something that hasn’t been discovered or released yet, whether related to our personal lives and beyond. Or maybe it’s not meant for us to know yet in that timing.

And that’s what makes life so fun and interesting. If we knew everything, there’d be no surprises.

It’s also like in our logic-heavy world, we think if we just work hard enough or keep pushing or quenching our need to know now, then we’ll figure it all out and be satisfied. We’re tricking ourselves by thinking this.

The truth is, our never-ending need to know is never satisfied with more answers. It’s never satisfied, period.

But if we are in the flow with life, we can trust that whatever is meant for us to know will make its way to us. We can let go of the need to know, and simply allow.

So today, I wanted to tell you about 2 stories from my own life where I intentionally didn’t “Google” or “search” for the answers to my questions, but how they came to me instead. Get ready!!

Rocco’s Breed!!!

If you’ve been following along, you know that I’m a mom to a 10-year-old rescue dog named Rocco. He’s the cutest, patootiest best friend a girl could ever ask for. I’ve had him for nearly 4 years.

Naturally, with a rescue, people ask you, “what kind of dog is he?” And I’ve had my own guesses - I think he’s a Labrador retriever, he looks like one and he has the personality to match. But I’ve also thought he was a hound, because he is very scent-driven and has long ears. I’ve had it suggested to me that he is a pit bull, because of his barrel chest and short hair.

I can’t tell you how many times people have told me, “You should get the DNA test.”

I’ve just never been drawn to doing it! I’ve never gotten the green light from my gut to go ahead on it. And it wouldn’t change how I love him anyways. So I’ve never done it.

And I’ll tell you why I never ended up needing the test. I also have a dog sitting business. A few months ago, a client’s husband dropped off their purebred lab for sitting, and asked me, “So what do you think your lab is mixed with?” And I said the same thing as before - “I dunno, maybe hound cuz of his nose and ears, or pit bull cuz of his hair.”

And he looked at Rocco and said, “He looks like he has beagle paws.” And something inside of me lit up when he said that.

During that doggy’s week-long stay, I looked up the characteristics of beagles (which are a type of hound btw). They are:

  • Scent-driven (check)

  • Food-driven (check)

  • Gain weight easily (check, lol)

  • People-friendly (check)

  • Hate water!! (yes I have a lab who hates water 😀)

  • Love to chase rabbits (check check check)

  • Great for first time dog owners!!!

I even looked up what beagle paws look like, and they do look like Rocco’s beauty paws.

Later on, I looked up on Youtube how beagles sound when they howl and bark and how labs sound when they howl and bark. Rocco, only 50 lbs, barks and howls like a 100-lb dog. He has a very deep and robust bark. He doesn’t bark much, but when he does, it surprises people! And, it turns out he got his bark from his lab side 🙂

If you Google “black lab beagle mix” you’ll literally see exact replicas of Rocco online.

So mystery solved!!! I never needed the DNA test 🙂 I just had to simply pose the question to the universe, let it go, and the universe answered me, some 3.5 years later 🙂

The Unidentifiable Bird

I love birdwatching, especially when I walk Rocco. There’s a bird I see in my neighborhood often. It’s small, blackish, and has a funny flight pattern, almost like a bat.  The only thing is, it never lands near you, so I can’t see it close enough to tell what its coloring is or Google it!

Well, I was in NYC recently, with my brother, and we came across a park that had a whiteboard up with drawings of birds to help birdwatchers identify them. And it turns out what I was seeing in Nashville is called a chimney swift!!

At first, when I saw this chart, I thought “Oh we have all these in Nashville… except those (the chimney swifts)”… then I realized oh wait those are the ones I’ve been wondering about!!!

Chimney swifts are named as such, because they live in people’s chimneys. They’re city birds that don’t perch anywhere except upright in a chimney overnight. So they fly all day and they don’t rest until nighttime. Their funny flight pattern is because they are hunters of insects.

I never even bothered Googling this, because it seemed impossible!!! But still, the universe wanted to answer my question 🙂 And it was so much more satisfying being answered in this way, rather than going online and Googling 🙂

Wrap-Up

I really feel like the old way of being, which includes searching, chasing, and pushing for things is not sustainable. And I feel like if there is something in your life that you want an answer to, that is not Google-able (or worth the time to Google), it’s possible that the universe will still surprise you with the answer anyways! If it is meant for you to know, it will find its way to you.

This “need to know” though - it never really gets quenched. Cuz it’s an endless mindset loop. Cuz then what else do you need to know to be satisfied? Another DNA test??

Sometimes it’s worth not knowing certain things.  And that uncertainty can be the doorway to true knowing, beautiful synchronicities, and all in divine timing.

It might even save you some mental energy and work to just allow and receive instead! Which, after a 3.5-year burnout period in my own life, is welcome!!!

I’d love to know… are there any un-Google-able questions you’ve had in your life that were answered by the universe?

Or, is this something new you’d like to try?

Thank you so much for reading and following along with me! It is so greatly appreciated 🙂

Sending lots of love,

Angeli
