Greetings everyone! Welcome back! 🙂
I was reading this book, Tarot for Change, and came across this concept of turning inwards and I wanna talk about it today.
When most of us were younger, we were not taught to look within ourselves. We were told to take orders, be obedient, follow through with the “plan”. Further, many of us lived through stressful childhoods, therefore picking up on habits like emotionally rescuing our parents so that we could feel safe in the home. We were habituated to tuning outwards in order to survive and be accepted.
But I’d argue that turning inwards is the most important life skill you can learn, and it’s a practice.
When you think about the decisions you’ve made in your life, what were some of the best ones? Were they ones where you listened to other people’s advice? Or when you tuned into your own inner being?
Many of us have no idea how to listen to our intuition. And when we feel unsure, we start looking outwardly for answers.
Recently, I went to Australia and saw a lot of family members whom I either hadn’t seen in years, or whom I’d met for the first time. When the common question of “what do you do?” came up, I proudly described how I left healthcare to write and speak about spirituality. And I received a lot of, “You know what you should do? You should go back to pharmacy.”
Thankfully, this late in the game, I feel more secure in myself and my decisions. It doesn’t bother me so much now when people say things like that. I know that going back to pharmacy wouldn’t make me feel expansive and free, which is how I want to feel in this new chapter of life.
The thing about advice though is, people don’t know your situation like you do. They don’t live in your body, they don’t know what universal guidance you’re receiving. They don’t know your journey. All they know is what they would do in your situation.
They would do it this way, because of their fear of your situation. They would do it this way because it’s the only thing they know. They would do it this way because that’s within their comfort zone. They don’t know anything different.
And surely, they think what has worked for them would work for you. Even if it crushes your soul (they don’t know this).
I talked about in this post how to listen to your intuition. And further, I’d like to “wordify” the process of using your intuition in order to best describe the thought process of tuning in.
How to Connect to Your Intuition (and 3 Easy Practices to Do So!)
Hi everyone!! Welcome back 🙂 Today we’re going to talk about one of my FAVORITE topics EVER!!! Intuition. Gosh I’m so excited.Angeli’s Newsletter is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.
Ask yourself this: “Could I see myself staying, loving, and growing here?”
In every best decision I’ve ever made, that’s the feeling I followed. What lit me up in that moment. The job that brought me to Nashville, the house I bought in Nashville, the friends I’ve made in life, the beautiful dog I adopted.
Because these are the values of your soul. Your soul wants to grow, expand, love, and connect. Even if some things are temporary, following these values is a good barometer for the things you want in life. It also helps you realize when it’s time to go.
Sometimes we have stayed somewhere, loved it, and grown, and now we have to move past that thing. That’s valid, too.
This is how I knew it was time to leave healthcare. I stayed, I loved it, and I grew, but then it was time to move into something else.
I didn’t want to live a double life anymore. The spiritual me, versus the scientific me. The lit up version of me, versus the crushed spirit me. The one who believes in true growth and expansion, and the one who felt my growth and expansion was limited in this old paradigm job.
It was time to merge into one authentic me. And maybe some people can see that and get on board, and maybe it will take others a while to catch up. And maybe some people will fall away as I grow into a new version of myself. It’s all a journey anyways, right?
But turning inwards is what got me here, and turning inwards is what will get me to where I want to go. You can put anything on pen and paper and say things measure up.
But the soul knows better. Some things are unexplainable, need to end, and have served their purpose.
So I ask you, is turning inwards part of your daily practice? Is this something that comes easy for you? Did you have to work on it or practice it? Would you like to start a daily habit of it now?
Have an amazingly abundant week!
Love,
Angeli
