What's Your Soul Word for 2024?
Greetings spiritualists and welcome back! 🙂 2023, what a year!
I am sure many of you take this time at the end of the year to reflect, regroup, set intentions, and get ready for the new year.
One of the ways I like to set intentions for the new year is by choosing a soul word for the coming year!
What is a Soul Word?
I was introduced to the beautiful spiritual practice of setting soul words for the new year by my very good friend, Kay. Kay is one of my spiritual besties.
A soul word is the word that your soul wants to embody. It can really be any word, but it’s supposed to make you feel good, and give your human a direction to grow into.
While you can choose a soul word anytime, it’s nice to set them at the start of a new year because it gives you a fresh beginning and time frame to embody it.
How Do You Choose a Soul Word?
Really, you have to ask your soul. Your soul will tell you which word it wants to embody, usually in the form of a feeling.
You can sit in meditation and ask yourself, “What is my soul word for 2024?” or “What is my soul word now?” “What energy does my soul want to embody this year?” “How would I like to feel?” And see what you get back! You might receive a word right away, or it might take a little bit of time.
Your soul word can also arise out of a real-life situation that makes you realize something that you do want to embody.
Soul Words Carry Your Intentions
When you set yourself a soul word, you are carrying the energy of the intention you wish to embody in every part of your life. Here is a description of my soul word for 2023.
My Soul Word for 2023 was Freedom.
After leaving healthcare in 2022, my main focus was to establish freedom in my life! When you go through the contrast of a job with rigid work hours and workload/requirements, it gives you the opportunity to reimagine a more forgiving, fulfilling, flexible, and stress-free life.
How I Embodied Freedom in 2023
I continued blogging, and set up the opportunity for paid subscriptions 🙂
I started an at-home sourdough bakery, and set my own schedule
I started a dog sitting business. I also set my schedule here
I started a self-paced spiritual life coaching certification program
I allowed myself to nap almost every day this year
I traveled to two international countries! (Australia and Mexico). I wrote blog posts from both places!
I read amazing spiritual books
I rarely, if ever, set an alarm clock and allowed my body to naturally wake me (sometimes, if I was supposed to wake up early for some reason, my body actually did wake me up at the right time!!)
I took out my IUD by myself!!!! (please check in with your own body to see if this is appropriate, otherwise please seek a health professional’s care!)
So, as you can see, by setting the intention (which is the soul word) to be freedom, I was able to carry that intention and embody it throughout various facets of my life!! Easily and effortlessly. And it felt so good to feel FREE!!!
My Soul Word for 2024 is Expansiveness
Recently, I found myself shrinking my happiness around a person I went out on couple dates with. Probably a product of my programming. So while thankfully, things didn’t work out romantically, I will say that being expansive is something I definitely want to feel, especially within relationships. So I will set my soul word (starting now, but through 2024) for expansiveness!
I was made to be big, magnetic, and expansive. For those of you who follow Human Design, I am a Manifesting Generator. We are known to be big, expansive, and ever-evolving. Always reinventing ourselves. Multi-passionate! Larger than life at times!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Human Design, Brene Brown is an example of a Manifesting Generator. Super powerful soul!!
Because all of my power resides in my ability to be authentic and expansive, I’ll love to embody this for 2024.
I’ll love to see things expand in 2024, like my self-love, abundance, romantic life, family, friendships, health, all the things in 2024!!!
And it starts with setting intentions/a soul word 🙂
