The Divine Flow of Abundance
Greetings everyone and welcome back! And welcome to our new subscribers 🙂
I had a dream the other night that I was standing on a beach, after sunset, watching the tide come in and out and reach my feet. I remember feeling that I was taken care of by the universe, financially.
Today we’re gonna talk about the divine flow of abundance. I am referencing the book, The Soul of Money by Lynne Twist. Lynne Twist works for The Hunger Project, whose efforts are to end world hunger. She writes about our use of money in our modern culture.
In our capitalistic society, the main message about money is to accumulate more by any means necessary, commonly to the detriment of Mama Earth and its inhabitants.
Further, a serious myth about money has been perpetuated, that there isn’t enough – this is called scarcity mindset.
The problem with this mindset is that it isn’t true, and it's more sinister than we think. This is because there is a natural and divine flow of abundance, and the more we stay in fear of the flow, the more we suppress and oppress natural recipients of money.
This is how we’ve developed so much socioeconomic inequity, poverty, hunger, and so much more. We think there is not enough to go around, so much so that systems have been developed to restrict the flow of abundance to certain peoples.
But the truth is, there absolutely is enough, we just don’t direct it appropriately as a people.
The Flow of Money
You receive your money from a main source, or a number of sources, like an employer, for example. Some of that money might stay in the bank account. Some of it goes to services rendered to your house, like clean, running water, electricity, heat and air conditioning, and WiFi.
Some of that money might go into a savings account or investment.
When we think of the big corporations, or big money-making industries, many of the efforts to spend and make money are at a huge detriment to Mama Earth’s resources, while also sending out harmful and demeaning messages, which perpetuate the psyche of “not enough” and “competition”.
Too much of these feelings causes a serious imbalance in the world.
We Have the Power to Align our Money with Our Soul
It all comes back to intentions. You can set intentions aligned with your ego or your soul. The ego part of us is thirsty for more external validation, such as in the form of money. If our money goes up, our sense of self and attachment to money can go up, and our sense of self deflates as our money goes down. (But really your self-worth was always there!)
If we align our intentions with our soul, in the name of kindness, generosity, compassion, love, respect, purpose, and interconnectedness, we can align our use of money to match the same.
Money carries our intentions. And soul aligned intentions go really far!
If we want to see how exactly we spend our money, we can take a look at our bank accounts and statements to see where our flow of money goes.
Further, we can ask ourselves from where does money come to us? Is it in ways that align with our souls and is life-giving?
Or do we acquire our resources in ways that drain us, demean us, or crush our spirits?
Money is Like Water
In the book, The Soul of Money, Lynne Twist writes a chapter called, Money is Like Water. She posits that like water, money has a natural flow. When you hold water for too long, it becomes toxic. And that is the same for money. When we get so focused on accumulating more in perpetuity, we end up restricting and oppressing the natural flow of money. We also repress creativity and authentic power in this way.
This means we have a choice on whether to use money for the greatest and highest soul commitments (in ways that positively uplift our world and its inhabitants). Or to accumulate simply to accumulate and restrict access to others.
While it is practical to save and accumulate some money, (and we are all deserving of abundance!), we can remember that when money does flow to us, we can be practical and soul-aligned stewards of where the money goes after it reaches our hands.
Meaning, as we learn to attract more abundance, we can direct money towards humanitarian values.
For example, do you enjoy spending your money with businesses or services that value its employees, its products, and its customers in the name of sustainability? Do you support businesses or people that inspire you? Do you buy locally to minimize the carbon footprint of your purchases? Does your spending match who you think you are?
These are all questions I’ve been asking myself since I started reading this book.
But when we overly restrict the flow of money of our hands, scores upon scores of people miss out.
It’s kind of like the money belongs to all of us, and has a natural flow. Or maybe it belongs to none of us. It certainly doesn’t follow us to the grave.
But many of us are too scared to let go of it, to the detriment of our own health, mental health, and the health of the greater collective.
Money Doesn’t Have a Soul, But We do
When we use our money to align with our soul’s highest values, we become even more powerful in the way we spend it. When we express gratitude to the good and services we receive, it reminds us that we are all interconnected and we can’t go it alone.
When we realize that letting go of money at times can be a healthful and cathartic practice, we can remember that money is like the ocean’s tide. It always comes back. Somehow or someway, it finds its way back to us and then some. We just have to trust.
Money in the Right Hands
As long as we are responsible stewards of our money, we give others a chance to use that abundance for positive and integrous affairs, too. Meaning they at ground zero can work their magic to express their gifts, service humanity in their unique and ingenious ways, and on and on.
The world comes back into balance when everybody gets a chance to express their gifts, fully and creatively.
We are all part of the divine flow of abundance. Let’s become responsible stewards of our money and support peoples and purposes that align with our very souls!
I hope you enjoyed this post! Please feel free to share if you did 🙂
Have a great weekend!
Love,
Angeli
