7 Signs of Intentional Living
Hi everyone! Welcome back for more soul-filling content from sageelephant.org!
Today we are going to talk about intentional living. One of the biggest signs of a spiritually awakened soul is one that knows the importance of living intentionally. When we live intentionally, we see the best things come into fruition in our lives.
What is Intentional Living?
Intentional living is living your life from the seat of your soul
Intentional living means choosing experiences that are in authentic alignment with your being
It means bringing your absolute presence to all of your endeavors as much as possible
It also means saying no to things that don’t serve you or your energy levels
Why Live Intentionally?
Back when we talked about intentions (setting intentions - here and love and fear-based intentions here), we talked about the importance of love-based intentions. This includes love, joy, compassion, kindness, gratitude, and presence. When we live intentionally and in alignment with our souls, naturally we set love-based intentions. We know the importance of this.
Feeling authentic = feeling good
We are unashamed of stating our wants and needs, and have established enough trust in ourselves to say no to the things that don’t serve us.
This means our inner world matches our outer world in the best way possible. This is a powerful approach to manifesting the life of your dreams.
What Happens If We Don’t Live Intentionally?
Imagine the mind is a pond - then we can think of the thoughts as pebbles. Each pebble that gets tossed into the pond causes a reverberation outwardly. The more pebbles that are tossed around, the more waves are created in the pond.
Our inner worlds reflect our outer worlds.
When we are unintentional about our decisions and way of living, we didn't take the time to sit down with intention. So we create a chaotic life with unintended consequences. This can include drama, fights, hurts, regrets, and more. We can end up exhausted because we are continually fighting our true natures. That's not operating from our true self.
Intentional living means we know this is unsustainable and we must choose to live in ways that sustain us and our souls.
What Does Intentional Living Look Like? Here is a graph I made up to describe this:
Our internal satisfaction becomes much higher when we are intentional about our choices. When we are intentional, we choose the experiences we think will serve us or fulfill us. The more we do so, the more satisfied we feel in our lives. Life happens less “to” us, and more “for” us.
7 Signs of Intentional Living
Toxic relationships fall by the wayside: as you become more in touch with yourself and your own spiritual growth, you start to see some of your more chaotic friendships and relationships fall away. The truth of who you are becomes stronger with time, and in your journey to foster inner peace, you let go of the ones who are fighting with themselves. (You may be able to see this, they might not).
You begin to trust yourself more: you start to tune into your intuition about people, circumstances, and opportunities that do and don’t serve you. As you practice using your intuitive muscles, you see that your discernment is highly attuned to your soul's wants and needs and you continue to honor that.
Your soul lights up more: You know that the sign of a good thing in front of you is your soul jumping for joy in your body. You know that’s a hell yes and honor that. Additionally, the more authentic you are to yourself, the more you start to notice synchronicities and attract opportunities that align with your being.
You know when to say no: you’ve realized that when you say yes when you want to say no, you create immense unintentional consequences. Not only does this deplete your energy, but you bring sucky energy to your experiences if you say yes when you really wanted to say no. As you trust yourself more, you start to have enough confidence that by saying no now, better opportunities will find you later.
You put positive energy into the things you do: remember, we want to set love-based intentions. This means feelings of love, joy, gratitude, kindness, compassion, intentionality, and presence into the things you do. You know that things turn out so much better when the things you do are blessed by your intentionality.
You are highly present when you are with other people: you know the difference between distracted energy and present energy. Presence is powerful. The best gift you can give someone is your present time awareness. It’s also the best gift you can give to yourself. Through your meditative practices, you have learned that present time awareness is when you are your most powerful and yields the best results. As a result, your relationships improve as the people in your world start to mirror your own awareness. And you get the most from the relationships who honor this like you do.
You enjoy life more: you realize that how you spend your time matters. So you do things that fill you up and nourish you. You may choose to do activities that make you feel fulfilled. Or like a kid again. Or help you get in touch with your creativity. You know that life is temporary, so the more time you spend feeling good, the better.
Living intentionally means cultivating a life of authenticity. It means returning to yourself to see what aligns with you. It means tuning out external voices so that you can go inwards. It means letting go of circumstances or relationships that don’t align. It means unlearning some things so that you can stand in your truth. It’s a continual process that takes practice.
It also means doing the best you can. Sometimes we do get distracted, in meditation, or in life. That’s also part of being human. Intentional living is not about being perfect. It's about noticing what’s right for you and honoring that. It's about forgiving yourself if you messed up. It’s always about respect and love for yourself first.
The more you do this, the more your outer world will match it. Life becomes much richer when you operate from the seat of your soul. Then the things you do are blessed by your unique and creative flair. That’s a thriving energy.
People want to see you thrive, including me.
So be intentional. Your soul will thank you.
